The Kansas Rural Water Association (KRWA) recently judged WaterOne “Best Tasting Water In Kansas – 2023” at their annual conference in Wichita, KS.
The contest presents judges with samples of water from competing utilities. Glasses of the unlabeled water samples are served at room temperature for the most accurate comparison, since ice or chilled temperatures can alter flavor perceptions. Judges are instructed to “sniff, sip, slurp, swish, and swallow,” which gives them a broad sense of each sample’s flavor properties, aroma, and mouth feel. The samples are then rated based on these aesthetic preferences.
Following the win, WaterOne is now eligible to represent Kansas at the Great American Water Taste Test at the National Rural Water Association’s (NRWA) Rural Water Rally conference in February 2024.
WaterOne has received consistent recognition for the aesthetic qualities of its water. WaterOne previously won the KRWA “Best Tasting Water In Kansas” award in 2018, and was declared “America’s Best Tasting Drinking Water” by the NRWA in 2021. WaterOne is a five-time winner of the American Water Works Association – Kansas Section’s (KsAWWA) “Best Tasting Water In Kansas” contest, and won the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) “Best Of The Best Drinking Water” and “People’s Choice” awards in 2022. The accolades affirm WaterOne’s continued investment into its infrastructure and operations, which helps ensure that WaterOne customers are receiving some of the best water available, anywhere.
“Beginning with our source waters in the Kansas and Missouri Rivers, our top priority is producing water that is clean, clear, and delicious,” said Director of Production Michelle Wirth. “Our talented and dedicated staff are committed to setting the standard for utility excellence.”
