WaterOne Treatment Operations Unaffected by Recent Flooding

Post Date:03/25/2019 11:45 AM

WaterOne would like to reassure customers that there has been no impact to its water treatment operations due to recent flooding. Recent difficulties experienced by other area utilities have no bearing on WaterOne’s operations, although our thoughts are with them as they work through the situation.

WaterOne draws its water from multiple intake sources, and our robust multi-barrier treatment process is working like normal to produce clean, delicious tap water. It is the only utility in the area to draw from both the Kansas and Missouri Rivers, providing an operational redundancy whose value is highlighted especially in times like these. WaterOne’s Missouri River intake was pre-scheduled to be down for maintenance as flooding began. Operations staff continue to draw from WaterOne’s Kansas River intakes and wells and its Missouri River horizontal collector well while monitoring flood conditions on the Missouri. All facilities continue to operate normally.

For additional protection, WaterOne builds its facilities to the 500-year flood standard which means they remain unimpacted even from major flooding. WaterOne customers are encouraged to drink and use water normally – it is plentiful and high-quality. Learn more at https://www.waterone.org/your-water/our-water-sources
