Main Breaks: What to Expect Main breaks are an inevitable part of the water industry. Depending on many factors such as soil moisture due to drought or excessive rain, temperature etc., WaterOne can respond to and repair more than 500 main breaks per year. A typical main break takes 4-5 hours to repair. Infrequently, a main repair may take longer than 4-5 hours due to complications that are discovered once the ground has been excavated. Our first concern is to repair the main and restore water service as quickly as possible. Most main breaks result in a loss of water because of how the water mains are repaired and for the safety of our employees. Since main breaks occur without notice, it is not feasible for repair crews to notify the neighborhood or know how many customers are out of water. For more information on main breaks, click here. |
