WaterOne Receives Honorable Mention for Pollution
Prevention Lenexa, KS. WaterOne received honorable mention from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) during the 2011 Kansas Environmental Conference P2 Awards Luncheon in Topeka, Kansas. WaterOne was recognized for implementing a successful and active Green Driver program which has reduced the utility’s fuel consumption and CO2 impact, setting WaterOne apart as a green focused organization. The Green Driver program has also provided a projected annual payback of $35,000 in fuel savings by improved MPG, and $250,000 total payback on insurance (reduced preventable accidents), fleet maintenance and fleet capital savings. KDHE gives honorary mention and awards to communities, businesses, and industries that have made significant improvement in protecting the environment by preventing pollution and/or conserving natural resources. This annual award program recognizes excellence in working towards a cleaner environment. Accepting the award on behalf of WaterOne were Colleen Browne, Director of Administration/Human Resources; John Fennell, Fleet Mechanic Foreman, and Michelle Duprey, Operations Coordinator, all whom were instrumental in the Green Driver program.
