November 18, 2010 WaterOne Receives County Public Improvement Award WaterOne was recently awarded the County Public Improvement Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Kansas in the “10,000 and Above Population category” for its new Wolcott Water Treatment Plant. ACEC presents Public Improvement Awards (PIAs)
every year in several population categories for both Kansas cities and
counties. These Public Improvement Awards rate entries based on their
benefit to the citizens of the community. • Providing additional capacity of 30 million gallons per day to meet increasing demand of Johnson County. • Providing potential for additional capacity through expansion to meet future Countywater needs. • Providing additional reliability by being separately located with an independent water source from the other facilities. • Providing additional reliability through use of horizontal collector wells which tap into the aquifer along the Missouri River, limiting effects of low water levels that the river could experience. WaterOne and other winning entries received an engraved plaque at the Kansas Association of Counties Annual Conference Awards Luncheon on November 15, 2010. Receiving the award for WaterOne were Bob Reese, Board Chairman, and Mike Horsley, Black & Veatch. |
