WaterOne Receives Best Practices Award

WaterOne recently was awarded the prestigious 2006 Best Practices Award from the Kansas City Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (KC-ASTD).  Patty Lindgren, WaterOne Training & Development Coordinator accepted the award on behalf of the utility at the KC-ASTD Annual Awards & Recognition Banquet on January 25, 2007.   This award carries with it a strong tradition of excellence in the Kansas City Training and Development community.

Only three Kansas companies were selected for this honor by KC-ASTD.  WaterOne was recognized for its ‘Leadership Academy’, a program designed to develop future leaders at the utility and which Lindgren was instrumental in implementing in 2006.  The utility was awarded the Best Practices Award for the category of Establishing a Workplace Learning and Performance Culture.

As part of the Leadership Academy curriculum, class members participate in the utility’s outdoor Challenge Course, located on the utility’s grounds.  The Challenge Course provides an opportunity for participants to engage in teambuilding exercises and enrich their leadership skills in a unique learning environment.
