2007 Capacity Development Achievement Award
Presented to WaterOne

WaterOne received the 2007 Capacity Development Achievement Award from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). The award was presented by Dave Waldo at the September WaterOne Board Meeting.

The Capacity Development Achievement Award is the first of its kind in the country, and is designed to encourage utilities to go beyond mere compliance with the Safe Water Drinking Act (SWDA).  Rather, the program is intended to promote exceeding the standards set forth in the Act. “We’re very proud of this innovative effort to reward public water supply systems for going beyond what we ask of them,” stated Ron Hammerschmidt, Director of KDHE Division of Environment.  “This is a positive way to encourage compliance, while protecting the environment and the public health.”

“Our staff is very dedicated and committed to the utility’s operations an it’s an honor to receive this award,” said Mike Armstrong, WaterOne General Manager. Terry Frederick, WaterOne Board Chairman added, “We are proud to receive this award. It reflects our continued commitment to high standards in both water quality and delivery.
