WaterOne Is No. 1 in Taste! The results are in--WaterOne was judged as having the best tasting water in the state in a contest sponsored by the Kansas Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). The best tasting water contest was held in conjunction with the association’s annual meeting in Wichita, September 13-15, 2006. Water samples were submitted by various public water utilities throughout the state. Blind taste testing and judging was conducted by a broadly represented panel from water agencies, academia, business, and media. When the results were tallied, WaterOne was pronounced the winner. WaterOne General Manager Mike Armstrong was pleased, but not surprised, by the outcome of the contest. Said Armstrong, "The result of this contest is a testament to the dedication of our water production staff who produce high quality drinking water day in and day out. On our most recent customer survey, water taste and quality were rated very favorably by our customers.” In addition to best tasting water, WaterOne’s team of water treatment operators also took first prize in the AWWA sponsored Top-Ops Challenge, a contest where water treatment professionals compete against each to test overall knowledge of water treatment and treatment technologies. AWWA is an international nonprofit scientific and educational society dedicated to the improvement of water quality and supply. Its membership includes more than 4,700 water utilities throughout North America.
