WaterOne Approves Pipeline Route in Wyandotte County The Board of Water District No. 1 of Johnson County (WaterOne) has approved the route for a 60” pipeline to be installed in Wyandotte County as part of the utility’s Phase V Expansion. Also included in the expansion project will be construction of a new pumping station, water intake and water treatment plant on the Missouri River. The final pipeline route will follow along the 115th Street and 118th Street alignment from the site of the new treatment plant on Sam Clark Lane in Kansas City, Kansas. This route was one of three alternative pipeline routes investigated by Black & Veatch and the utility’s’ engineers. In recent months WaterOne has met with various governmental entities to discuss the three proposed routes, and also held three informational meetings in Kansas City, Kansas and Bonner Springs to get input from landowners. Property owners along the three alternative pipeline routes, as well as attendees at the informational meetings, will be notified by letter of the utility’s final decision on the pipeline route. An additional letter will be mailed to property owners along the 115/118th pipeline alignment with more details about the easement acquisition process. Design work on the pipeline will begin immediately, and construction will begin late 2006 or early 2007. |
