The City of Lenexa and WaterOne are pleased to announce completion of a 12” water main project that has made water available to the area west of K-7 Highway.   The pipeline runs along Prairie Star Parkway, from Monticello Road to Mize Road, and south from Mize Road to K-10 Highway.

The pipeline project was accomplished through a cooperative effort and agreement between the two governmental entities.    In accordance with the agreement, WaterOne funded installation of a 54” tunnel under K-7 at a cost of approximately $400,000 and the City of Lenexa provided funding for the water main installation at a cost of a little more than $1 million through a special improvement district along the route of the pipeline.  Property owners along the route will pay for the cost of improvements through a special assessment.

The project was completed under budget.  Construction on the project began in February 2004, and the pipeline was put in service July 2004.
