CCC Program for Fire Service Line Flushing

The service shall be flushed at least once every three months according to WaterOne specifications. Waterone will notify the Owner, or their appointed agent, when the flushing is to be completed.

The service shall be flushed through the system main drain or a private fire hydrant. The following information shall be provided to Waterone:

  • Length and size of fire service line from the tap on the water main to the backflow preventer.
  • Length and size of fire service line from the backflow preventer to the flushing apparatus.

  • Size of system main drain and length of the discharge pipe.

  • Water main line pressure

The amount of water to be dispensed is equivalent to five times the volume of the fire service line from the tap on the main to the BPD.  Therefore, it is highly unlikely that a standard floor drain will be adequate to handle this amount of water.  WaterOne recommends that all main drains vent to daylight.
