WaterOne Going Green by Going

It
is no secret that bottled water has become one of the most widely
purchased products spanning all age groups, nationalities, and
socioeconomic levels. And, for several years WaterOne utility has
provided bottled water for various local community and chamber events as
a convenience. But for all its convenience, those handy plastic bottles
come at a high environmental price.

BRING YOUR CHILD TO WORK DAY
April 24, 2008
WaterOne
participated in the national ‘Bring Your Child to Work Day’ on April 24,
2008. Nearly 50 boys and girls, ages 8-18 participated in the program.
Participants were introduced to the world of water and to a wide array
of skills and services needed to support it. The day’s activities were
designed to help them discover the link between what they are learning
now in school and what they can become in the future.

Participants had an opportunity to witness
first-hand the vital services provided by WaterOne. The day was filled
with activities, from building a 'water system' to learning about
careers in water, both in the office and in the field. They donned hard
hats, safety vests and goggles for a walking tour where they saw fire
hydrant, backhoe and tapping demonstrations, and they had an opportunity
to use the utility’s GPS equipment in a scavenger hunt.
